In a group of seven people, we started a coffee shop business. We rented an area of around 1000 metres square. The business was great, the coffee shop's visitors averaged around 500 people per day. The coffee shop was sold and we exited after two years. The most important lesson learned here is when we had to fired a co-founder, in a hard way.

November 2018 - now

After spent several years in communities and volunteered in many startup-building activities, I decided to start a tech-focused company that also support the local ecosystem to grow. Mostly because I was influenced by several people, that shaped my mindset that I could also take part in building a better ecosystem, of course, with things I am comfortable with, tech and development.

In Food and Beverage business, spot is an important aspect that cannot be ruled out. We though we could do it from a low traffic area with good design and marketing, as there are so many online food ordering was around at that moment. Lesson learned: do market validation.

Naming is a very important part of building a business. We founded an ice cream business in the name of Ezmozi, meaning emotional in Indonesia. The team dismissed immediately after our first sales attempt in public, which is partly because of flood and no product were able to be sold. And of course, co-founder's attitude is the deciding factor.

When I'm at my friend's kwetiau stall. He mumbled that he wanted to do photography, his very pashion. I love photography, too. So on a whim, I just told him to let's just do it. The next two days, I created a logo and printed business cards and gave it to him. In two weeks, we already have more than ten booked events for the next three months. My co-founder, somehow lost contact, went missing. I then dismissed the team and sold my photography equipment sets after finishing several events his disappearance

One day I met with a new friend at Orange CS, we discussed about how we can support each other. He and I then founded this team. He has been doing programming work for six or seven years before he teamed up with me - me, someone who never write any app before. I soon started learning about how application works, journals, accounting, business processed and other basic skills along our business. I was in charged of field operations and application implementation and him on development. We added one more co-founder into our roster as part of development team

We tried to create a fastfood F&B business concept like Taiwan's brand, Shilin Chicken. I am in charged of branding concept and design, with my partner in product research. Together with my partner, we started from selling the chicken fillets in festivals around the city while cooking in my workshop. I remember the smell of chicken there, some are good, some are terrible. As we progressed, I voiced the need of another cofounder with basic in F&B line of business, and then recruited another partner into core team to help in business operation. One year later, I quit the team after we set up our first store in a shopping mall

First of my investor-funded business - a soft loan. Initially a computer and peripherals retail business, turned into a B2B business in the first half year of operation. The business was promising, but I stopped after four years of operation, with gut feeling that I might can do better next time with a more solid business model.
